Eating disorders are more common than many people realize.
The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that 2.7% of U.S. adolescents have experienced anorexia, bulimia, or binge-eating disorder.
But many people do not recognize the signs right away, especially when they are still functioning, showing up, or keeping it hidden.
Support does not have to wait until things feel severe.

Healing happens best when care is connected. Grateful for the work being done in our community.

Meet Zadie, PA-C, our psychiatric medication management provider at Still I Rise Counseling.
Zadie works with adolescents and adults ages 13+, offering thoughtful, collaborative care for those navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, mood concerns, and other mental health needs.
Her approach is centered on education, safe prescribing, and understanding the full picture of each person’s life, not just a list of symptoms.
Appointments are available in person and by telehealth for patients located in Florida.
If you have been considering medication support, have questions about your options, or want care that feels personal and unrushed, this can be a place to begin.
Still I Rise Counseling is currently accepting new clients.

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.
It is a structured therapy approach that can help people process distressing or traumatic experiences in a way that is supported and paced.
One part of EMDR involves bilateral stimulation, which may look like back-and-forth eye movements, tapping, or alternating sounds. This helps support the brain in processing experiences that may still feel unresolved, emotionally intense, or “stuck.”
The goal is not to erase the memory.
The goal is to help it feel less activating in the present.
Good trauma work should feel collaborative, steady, and grounded in safety.

Our owner, Aleighsha Webber, was recently featured in CanvasRebel sharing more about the moments that shaped her work and the mission behind Still I Rise Counseling.
While we are grateful for the opportunity to share parts of our story, the heart of this work has always been about something bigger.
For many veterans, service does not end when the uniform comes off. The experiences carried from that line of work can affect identity, relationships, sleep, trust, purpose, and the way the body learns to stay on guard.
Mental health support for veterans should never feel like an afterthought.

June 2nd is World Eating Disorders Action Day.
People deserve support before things look “serious enough.”
Eating disorders and disordered eating do not always look obvious. They can affect men and women, teens and adults, and people in all body sizes.
You do not need the perfect words to begin talking about it.
At Still I Rise Counseling, there is a safe space to start.
Stop stigma. Start care.

Incredible opportunity last week in Delray Beach for the EMDR GAP training.
Learning directly from Dr. Nacho Jarero was truly an honor, and I loved connecting with so many passionate, skilled clinicians. These spaces always remind me how much depth and evolution there is within EMDR work.
Huge thank you to Brian Gong and Mangrove Therapy Group for organizing such a meaningful training, and to Caron Treatment Centers for their excellent facility.
Feeling inspired and excited to continue expanding the ways I support clients through EMDR!!
