Throwback Thursday: A History Brief! 🍑

Today’s Throwback Thursday takes us back to 1924, when Peach County was officially created by an Act of the Georgia Legislature on July 18, 1924. Formed from portions of Houston and Macon Counties, Peach County became the 161st county created in Georgia.

Named in honor of one of Georgia’s most famous agricultural products, the peach, our county’s history is deeply rooted in agriculture, community, and innovation.

From the historic communities of Fort Valley and Byron to the generations of families who have called Peach County home, our story has always been shaped by the people who live, work, and invest in this community.

As Georgia’s youngest county, we are proud of our rich history and the progress that continues to shape our future. Nearly a century later, the same community spirit that founded Peach County continues to guide us forward.

Over the coming weeks, Peach County will be sharing factual information about the proposed Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST) renewal that will appear on the November 3, 2026 ballot.

Our goal is to help residents better understand:

- Election information and important dates
