Here is a new/old method for saving your frames from Wax Moths. Certan B402 is a solution that can be sprayed onto your frames when you store them. Bacillius thuringiensis is not new in insect control. This 5 oz bottle will treat 100 deep frames or 155 medium frames. The mix ratio is 1oz of B402 to 19 oz of water for a total of 20oz. I used a graduated spray bottle from home depot to mix my solution and simply sprayed 1 oz per deep frame (.5 oz each side) and hung them in a box to dry. This frame has been exposed for about 2 weeks with no sign of moths anywhere. Since this is not toxic to bees, when I'm ready to use the frames, I can just place them back in the hive. No smelly crystal residue to air out (for weeks). 5oz bottle $33.00, less than 35 cents per frame. (I do carry the smelly crystals as well 😉).
