Derecktor Ft. Pierce
Jersey Girl recently returned to service following a successful repower at Derecktor's Mamaroneck, NY yard, completed in collaboration with Mack Boring & Parts Co. and Bill McKim of Jersey Shore Whale Watch.
Mack Boring supplied three new Scania diesel engines for the vessel, which was completed in just 2.5 months from engine delivery, with USCG COI approval secured in time for the July 4th celebration in New York Harbor. The repower increased the vessel's speed from 10 knots to 22 knots, with a cleaner, quieter, smoke-free operation.
As Mack Boring & Parts Co. shared, "It's rare that we can show up, complete a sea trial, and have the boat head straight to work, yet with Derecktor's team, that's exactly what happened. Steve and his team at the Mamaroneck yard worked quickly and efficiently. We're very grateful for the professionalism at Derecktor and for the opportunity to work with Bill McKim and Jersey Shore Whale Watch."
We hauled this 165’ Delta in April for significant driveline work and a bottom paint job. After launching them this June, they’re already back with us, this time for a full hull and superstructure paint job. We’re proud to have earned their trust for a second project this season.
146’ Heesen M/Y Lady L has hauled at Derecktor Fort Pierce for an extended yard period. The scope includes taking the hull back to bare metal with new fairing, primer, and topcoat, interior and exterior soft goods, underwater and exterior LED lighting, teak deck upgrades, and a 15-year ABS survey. Stay tuned as the project unfolds.
What an evening!
The Yacht Chandlers helped make another Captain & Crew Happy Hour a standout at our Dania Beach facility. Great food from YC Provisions, music by DJ Jeff, and a packed dockside crowd made for an unforgettable evening of connection among captains, crew, and industry partners.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and to The Yacht Chandlers, YC Provisions, and DJ Jeff for making the event a success. We look forward to seeing you at the next one.

One lesson repeatedly proves itself at the shipyard.
The success of a yard period is determined long before the vessel arrives at the dock.
At Derecktor Dania Beach, two recent projects showed exactly what that means in practice. The first – M/Y Carson, managed by Jim Rosenberg – arrived with scope defined, contractors coordinated, long-lead materials ordered, and a single empowered point of contact. It ran. When delayed stabilizer parts threatened to derail the timeline, Derecktor Dania Beach’s Sr. Project Manager Benjamin Riddle kept the project on track by collaborating with the production team to reallocate resources where needed. The second project arrived with scope still evolving, multiple decision-makers, and contractors not yet fully defined. It didn’t run as smoothly.
Same yard. Same team. The contrast wasn’t vessel size, budget, or complexity. It was project planning, clear decision-making, and stakeholder readiness.
The good news? Project success is largely within the control of the owner’s team. Whether the yard period is six months away or six weeks away, the investment in early planning always pays off.
