Simplicity is underrated. BIG TIME.

I remember a teacher that I had in elementary school that ALWAYS told us, when we came across a problem, to KISS (Keep It Simple Silly) the problem. Of all of the things those elementary school teachers tried to get me to remember, that is one of the things that has stuck with me into adulthood.

Keeping things simple is such a blessing. I don’t need complex plans detailed into every aspect of my life to maintain some sort of organization. I don’t need seven course meals to feed my family. I don’t need a 50 minute makeup routine to go out to dinner. As the great Flordia-Georgia Line once sang, it’s S-I-M-P-L-E.

My main focus is to simplify things when it comes to my goals. I TEND TO BE a very complex planner. This trips me up for often than not. For example, if I wanted to start a chore chart with my kiddos, my initial reaction is to do a complex system that takes a long time to create and set up only to not have it turn out the way I want it to and end up more frustrated with the situation. Ever been there? My goal this year is to focus on my actual GOALS not get ‘caught in the w**ds’ of the details.

What is something that you want to simplify OR what is something that you HAVE ALREADY simplified in your life?

First of all, I am an avid reader/audiobook listener. In 2023, I read or listened to 325 books. However, this means that I have no idea what’s going on in the latest TV show. I was completely unaware of the writers strike in Hollywood and only cued in when I saw info about it on social media. I would much rather dive into a fictional world of romance, suspense, or just a great story than watch a movie. Any day of the week. Always.

You might know I am the mom to 4 great kiddos ranging in ages from 14 years to 18 months (and if not you do now), but what you might not know is that I am also a former public school teacher and am currently a college instructor for people wanting to be teachers. Therefore, I am no stranger to chaos and craziness. I also am very focused on being happy and living a simple life.
