We are asking for the public’s help locating a missing 14-year-old white male, Nicholas, who was last seen around 8:20 a.m. on April 8, leaving the 2700 block of Exmoor Ln.

He is approximately 5’7”, 130 lbs., with brown eyes and brown hair that has been shaved. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and hoodie, and black pants.

Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) is providing an update to our March 31, 2026 release regarding the arrest of a suspect in a series of pellet gun incidents targeting moving vehicles, including further clarification of the investigation timeline.

In the summer of 2025, FCPS received four different reports of vehicles damaged on S. Shields St., which occurred between W. Mulberry St. and W. Mountain Ave. The separate incidents occurred at random times and days, and spanned over two months. At the time of the reports, there was no information that identified a suspect. In September, the incidents were reviewed as a possible pattern and forwarded to the FCPS Criminal Investigations Division for investigation as a single case involving multiple incidents. In November, detectives interviewed residents in the vicinity the incidents occurred, but no actionable leads were gathered to identify a suspect or their location.

In January and February 2026, FCPS received additional reports that allowed detectives to narrow the suspected incident area. In March, after additional investigative steps, detectives identified a possible suspect, Jamal Lohrius (DOB 02/16/71), and submitted a search warrant. Since Lohrius lived near Colorado State University’s (CSU) Early Childhood Center, detectives notified the school and the CSU Police Department on the morning of March 26 about the warrant and that there would be police activity across from the school. The notification was procedural, as there was no evidence prior to the search warrant indicating the school, staff, or students were targeted or at risk.

During the search warrant, a concerning item was located and additional resources responded to assess and ensure the item was handled appropriately. FCPS notified the school of the item and the presence of additional police resources at the residence. Once the item was deemed not to be a threat, FCPS again notified the school. Based on evidence located during the search warrant, an interview with Lohrius, and an analysis of recent behavior, detectives believed he posed a threat to the community and sought a Temporary Extreme Risk Protection Order (ERPO), which was granted by a Judge. While the ERPO is in place, Lohrius cannot possess any fi****ms or ammunition, and all fi****ms, weapon parts, accessories, and ammunition were seized from Lohrius’s residence. There was nothing found during the search warrant or subsequent follow up investigation that indicated there was specific surveillance of, or threat to, the children, parents, or staff at the Center.

Lohrius was booked into Larimer County Jail and the Court set a hearing date for April 26, 2026, as well as a $50,000 cash only bond. Lohrius remains in custody as of the time of this release of information.

“We recognize the heightened public attention to this case, particularly when these things take place in close proximity to our young people,” said FCPS Assistant Chief Frank Barrett, who oversees the Criminal Investigations Division. “We take these situations seriously and work with our partners in law enforcement, schools and the community to ensure safety and raise awareness to the extent permitted by law.”

On March 31, FCPS issued a press release to seek out additional victims whose vehicles may have been damaged and to inform the community that during the search warrant and interview with the suspect detectives became concerned for the safety of the community and took extra steps to legally remove all fi****ms, ammunition, and accessories from the house.

Charges are merely an accusation by law enforcement, and the suspect must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
