Today's "H" Award is the 4-H Heart award, and our winner is Jay Crouse!
Jay is nothing short of pure, happy energy. He puts his heart and soul into his club, the horse program, and the fair board!
His commitment to the Desperados 4-H Club is truly endless. Jay invests an incredible amount of his time and energy into keeping the club running smoothly by planning, organizing, and mentoring. Beyond that, the time and effort he pours into the horse program is nothing short of remarkable. From hands-on support to behind-the-scenes work, he ensures that both riders and horses are cared for, prepared, and set up to succeed. The countless hours he gives make a lasting impact on everyone involved.
His dedication, leadership, and passion are seen on every level of his involvement in the 4-H program. He puts a smile on everyone's face and is always willing to lend a hand. Jay always keeps the best interest of our county's youth in mind and we are so thankful to have him as a leader!

Happy National Volunteer Week!!

This year we will be posting our "H" award winners to show appreciation for our amazing Volunteers.

First up, the 4-H Head award goes to Kristi Neville!

For over 20 years Kristi has shared her immense knowledge of horses with 4-H members and their families. After completing 13 years as a Larimer County member, she immediately signed up as a 4-H leader. In addition to all her duties at the club level, Kristi has volunteered countless hours to the Larimer County program serving as a horse bowl coach and coordinator, a state certified levels rater, a clinician for dozens of county clinics, and a mentor, guide, and tutor to children and adults throughout our county. She has helped run horse shows and has been an assistant superintendent for Larimer County Fair and has guided many families through the 4-H process.

This year Kristi took on a great new challenge, utilizing all her 4-H knowledge. After recognizing the need for the county horse project to grow and have more smaller clubs that focus on horses, Kristi left her beloved Desperadoes to start a new club, the Trailblazers 4-H club where she is the organizational leader, as well as a horse leader. Starting a club from scratch was a far more daunting task than she imagined, but with the help and support of our extension office, Kristi navigated the paperwork, rules, and requirements and demonstrated great patience while waiting and dealing with all the IRS rules and navigating coordination with the Ranch. With the help of the new club leaders and parents, she has led the organization of club rides, demonstrations, community service and even a robust Cloverbud program. She expresses hope that other volunteers will also step up and start new clubs and would be willing to guide them through the process.

Kristi is a great role model for our 4-H members and families. She truly epitomizes the meaning of 4-H and represents all that 4-H stands for. Thanks for all that you do Kristi!
