This rainy morning fits my mood.
It is with much sadness that I share with you the news that our Shin Gi Tai founder, Kyoshi Brad Wells, passed away peacefully in his home early yesterday morning after a long illness.
He was such a passionate man who cared deeply about may things. He loved martial arts and teaching . He worked to bring karate to communities through park and rec programs and YMCA’s so that more people, especially kids, had access.
He loved making pottery and had a wonderful eye for art of all kinds.
He loved working with his dogs and and wanted to do search and rescue with them to help people in need.
He adored his wife Beth the most.
He was a wonderful mentor and generous with his time.
We will miss him.
Sensei Megan and I will be planning something in the future to honor him. I hope you will join us if you are able.
— Sensei B
I had the opportunity today to pop in on Sensei Megan’s black belt club class. It was such a pleasure to see how well they are doing! I’m looking forward to seeing them at their spring testing. :)
But wait…there’s more news! Sensei Megan Gleisner earned her 3rd Dan tonight!!! Congratulations Sensei Megan!
When you were 4 years old, Kyoshi Wells said to me “watch her”. I’ve been watching ever since. I’m so proud of you and all you’ve accomplished and all you do. Keep up the good work and as Sensei Jerry would say - “stay the course”
Pictures will be coming soon!

Congratulations to Tyler Frigo and Jacob Hanson on your promotions yesterday. ( more pictures to come!) Tyler was promoted to 3rd Dan and Jacob to 2nd Dan. It has been a pleasure to see both these men grow into great martial artists and teachers. I’m very proud of you!
