UPDATE on this mare with White Line Disease.
Weโre about 90% back to solid hoof wall with the end of this road in sight. I just want to give a huge shout out to this client for staying on top of their work in between cycles, without that this progress would have been slowed tremendously.
With WLD itโs so imperative that you stay on top of medicating the site, as a farrier, I am only there once every 5 weeks. For example I have worked on two horses that actively had WLD at the same time in the past and the difference in medicating and treating consistently makes the difference between a 2 year treatment and a 1 year treatment.

White Line Disease Update!
9 Months Into Treatment & Making Amazing Progress!
This mare is well on her way to a whole and healthy hoof.
Treatment started with a hoof wall resection to expose the infected laminae, followed by a formaldehyde + betadine soak to clean it out.
After a consult with our vet, we went with a reverse keg shoe + leather pad combo:
โ
Supports side walls & heels
โ
Floats the toe
โ
Encourages max hoof growth
Weโre just a few shoeing cycles away from a full recovery!
โNo hoof, no horse.โ
