Studies have shown that music engages the brain’s hippocampus, which fosters empathy and emotional awareness. While school districts struggle with funding for the arts, at Lab 11235, we incorporate sound in education as it relates to physics, science, and math – not just musically.

This week, our young physicists used their senses to explore how sound vibrations travel through different mediums. They felt the vibrations from singing bowls, watched as rice danced to the bass of a song, heard how different surfaces absorb sound and finally created their own instruments to have a fun jam session!
