It’s HOT: You’re plants are not tho! 🔥 while we as humans love to soak in water when the temp rises, more water can actually hurt your plants!

✨Your plants only care about the temperature when it comes to cold/ chill hours to produce fruit.

✨Plants do care about our gulf coast SUN, part sun and shade. Tip- our full sun is NOT what Google says or AI says. A select few can take our summer full sun. *most plants here (coastal Alabama) love afternoon shade here*

✨The more you water the more they become in DISTRESS and get root rot. I repeat: water does not cool off a plant, like we cool off. Does it help with dry soil? Yes! Plant roots sitting in water will begin to rot. Imagine having your feet sitting in water for days on end. Your feet will be WRECKED. This is why we say some plants don’t like wet feet.

✨Keep the same water schedule; look for droopy leaves for signs of needing to water twice, not excessively.

✨Your plants don’t feel relief jumping into a pool of water like we do, they just don’t need to dry out. Super soaking them causes more issues and stress on them.

💦We like to soak in cold water when it’s hot; Plants do not give a sh*t about cold water, they only care about NOT drying out and getting droopy leaves. We are much more hot than our plants, I PROMISE.

Happy 4th of July weekend!
We will be closed July 4th!

Bugs be bugging you? We have the solution! 🦟

Sleepy Catchfly Seeds ‘Silene antirrhina’
A native wildflower that catches bugs? Yep, you read that right! This will be our next round of 4-H donations to Gypsi Roses 4-H fund!

Sleepy Catchfly is one of those plants that reminds you just how cool nature really is. This North American native wildflower gets its name from the sticky little bands on its stems that can actually catch insects that try to crawl up or land on the plant. 🪴🦟

Now before you think you are growing a tiny Venus flytrap , Sleepy Catchfly doesn’t eat the bugs it catches. Instead, those sticky stems are believed to be the plant’s way of protecting its flowers by stopping little insects from sneaking up and stealing nectar without helping pollinate. Basically, it has its own built-in garden security system! 🌸

As if catching bugs wasn’t interesting enough, Sleepy Catchfly has another fun trick. Its tiny pinkish-purple flowers open later in the day and evening, which is where the “sleepy” part of its name comes from. Those evening blooms help support nighttime pollinators like native moths, making this a great addition to a wildlife garden.

This little wildflower may look delicate, but it is tough! It grows about 1–3 feet tall, handles poor sandy or clay soils, loves sunshine, and is perfect for native gardens, pollinator patches, and areas where you want more biodiversity plus also bug control. 🌸

These seeds are pay what you can to donate to Gypsi Rose 4-H fund! You will be mailed a seed packet of Sleep Catchfly Seeds , a guide on how to seed start/care plus a hand written thank you note from Gypsi Rose for your donation! 🍀
