Foley High School Alabama Technology Student Association - TSA students attended the 2026 Alabama TSA State Conference in Montgomery over Spring Break.
Conner Vix earned 1st Place and is State Champion in CO2 Dragsters. Wyatt Boling competed in Engineering CAD Design. Camp Krupinski competed in Flight. Conner Vix also competed in Bridges, and Technical Problem Solving. Travis Bowers, Nathan Karolinski, and Sawyer Thompson competed in Bridges and Technical Problem Solving.
Special recognition goes to Kai Feitosa and Ulrik Uv for their work on the Dragster Development team, collaborating during class. Their dedication, along with Conner, to CAD design, prototyping, and pushing the limits of our 3D printers played a key role in success, all guided by the Engineering Design Process used in the Baldwin County CTE STEM Engineering pathway.

Our Foley High School Alabama Technology Student Association (TSA) chapter teamed up with the Baldwin County Animal Shelter to make a real impact! We are putting the finishing touches on our signage project by testing our prototype signs for use at the shelter. The purpose of the signs are to advertise the dispositions of the dogs so future owners can more easily match with the dogs with their preferences. Students are going back to school to start the production phase of making these signs. Mind you there are 60 cages, that's a lot of signage! If you are interested in donating for materials and parts, please contact Thomas Thorjusen, [email protected].

CTE STEM/Engineering - Innovation in Motion!
Foley High School Robotics students put their engineering skills to the test by exploring gear ratios and the transfer of energy using chains and sprockets to power their custom-designed fans.
Each team engineered their own version of a fan to optimize performance and generate enough wind power to push a sail car across two tables. Through experimentation and redesign, students discovered how mechanical advantage and design choices impact real-world results. This hands-on challenge showcased creativity, problem-solving, and the excitement of learning through design-thinking.

Building Strong Foundations in CTE STEM/Engineering!
Foley High School Engineering students explored the fundamentals of truss design and the forces that affect structural strength. Using balsa wood, they constructed triangular roof trusses and tested their creations using the bridge tester.
Each student poured sand into a bucket as weight until their truss reached the point of failure, then compared the destructive force to the weight of their structure to calculate an efficiency ratio.
This hands-on project combined engineering principles, problem-solving, and real-world application—helping students see the balance between design, strength, and efficiency in action.

💡 Engineering in Action! 💡
Foley High School Engineering students took on a challenge that seemed impossible — using just one sheet of copy paper and a little bit of tape, they had to support 150 pounds of books one inch off the table! 📚😲
Through brainstorming, collaboration, critical thinking, and team problem-solving, these young engineers proved that creativity and teamwork can turn the impossible into reality. 👏

Foley CTE Engineering hosted Haylee Dorrill, representative from the Auburn College of Engineering to speak with the students about opportunities, classes, college life, and details about all of the different careers and pathways in engineering that Auburn offers.
At it again, first day, building spaghetti and marshmallow structures!

🚀🐾 Innovation Meets Compassion at Foley High School TSA! 🐾🚀
Our Foley High School Alabama Technology Student Association (TSA) chapter teamed up with the Baldwin County Animal Shelter to make a real impact! We worked on two tasks: 💡🐶
✅ Donating repurposed durable plastic balls from past robotics competitions into fun, long-lasting toys for the shelter pups!
✅ Designing & prototyping custom-designed adoption signs to help these adorable dogs find their forever homes!
Stay tuned for the final product—our students' creativity and skills in CAD Design and 3D Printing are making a difference! 🛠️❤️ Huge thanks to Sara Avakian, Adoption Coordinator, for the amazing collaboration and tour!
