The Flower Mound

Have you driven by The Flower Mound lately? It's a lovely shade of green all over the Mound just a couple of weeks post-burn. But if you walked on it right after the burn you might have noticed that it wasn't completely black but had a sort of "patchy" appearance. This type of burn is perfect for protecting the tiniest of creatures, the microscopic life that ensures the health of the prairie's grasses and wildflowers. Standing clumps of grass provide shelter for rabbits and birds that call the Mound home. It's all part of the mosaic of life that is a living prairie.
