This two-hour kayaking journey through the blackwater swamps of the Revolutionary Rivers offers an immersive experience combining recreation, history, and conservation. Paddle through quiet waterways shaded by towering cypress and tupelo trees while discovering the beauty and biodiversity of this remarkable region.

The Revolutionary Rivers—including the Santee, Wateree, Congaree, and surrounding waterways—played a critical role during the American Revolution, serving as transportation corridors, strategic military routes, and sites of troop movements and key engagements throughout the Southern Campaign. Patriots and Loyalists alike navigated these rivers and swamps during the fight for independence, making these waterways an enduring part of South Carolina's Revolutionary story.

This unique experience highlights the importance of protecting these treasured river ecosystems while celebrating the natural and historical resources that make South Carolina special.

📍 Directions: From Possom Fork Road, turn onto Sand Drive and continue onto N Persimmon Bluff Road. Follow the road to the end, where the group will gather at the boat ramp.

🚌 Shuttle service will be provided at the end of the trip to transport participants back to their vehicles.

🛶 Participants must either bring their own kayak or reserve one in advance through River Ratz Kayak & Canoe Rental LLC
