Thursday I came home to this sweet surprise 🥰
This baby is a miracle…
I have owed Twister (the mare) since she was 6 days old and she is now almost 15. I have tried to breed her many times and she never took. She was confirmed in foal one time but she lost it 😔. About a year ago I started her on a supplement to try to balance her hormones and this tiny little filly is the result!! Both momma and baby are doing great! I am beyond blessed!! 😇

Don't say that breeders have their weanlings/yearlings (or any stock) priced too high! This is going to break down the MINIMUM amount to get a beautiful c**t like this into the world... Barring everything goes EXACTLY as planned. This doesn't even include getting him to the point that he’s old enough to wean, just to get him physically onto the ground!
Stud fee: 900
Chute and ship: 650
Initial ultrasound to check mare: 120
Ultrasound at 14 days and 45 days: 240
Farrier @65 every 6 weeks for one year: 564
Vaccinations and teeth float once a year for broodmare: 240
Hay/grain per month X 12 months: 1500
All this totals: $4,214
This doesn't include the time that goes into this, and it doesn't include the sleepless nights waiting for the foal to arrive. It doesn't include if the mare needs to be cultured. It doesn't include dewormer, or any other random vet stuff that might pop up. It doesn't include if the mare doesn't take the first time and there needs to be another semen shipment and another vet fee for insemination. It doesn't include the registration fee and the fee it costs for the DNA kit that AQHA requires. This is also a lower level stallion, so think about the people who pay 1500+ for a stud fee! And I've seen chute and ship fees at like 850+ vs 650.
So, when you see a "low level" foal priced at 5k-- just know that the breeder put their heart into it and they aren't making any money. Please be kind to the people that are doing this to try to better the breed 🥰
p.s. if your foal doesn't look stocky/thick and their coat isn't shiny like this one, you've got a breeder that doesn't care.

We call him Honyock because of his silly, curious personality. AQHA registration pending. Can registered with NFQHA and as buckskin bred.
Super sweet and gentle. Leads, loads, and stands tied great. He is still a little unsure about the farrier and baths but does good for a yearling. I have done a little ground work with him and teaching him to yield his hindquarters.
He is picture perfect conformation wise. His only fault is he had an abscess in his back left foot that caused a little piece of his hoof to chip off. It is growing back correctly and he is 100% sound. He has a gorgeous little head, beautiful blue eyes, big-hip, good legs, good build and just all-around put together correctly.
Both parents are bad a$$ working ranch horses and will eat up at cow. Dam has done some barrel racing and playdays. Sire is also a finished heel horse in the arena.

P.S. I know he is a little sunburnt. He won’t leave his fly mask on 🤦🏼♀️
