Keeping hearts beating strong takes expertise, innovation, and compassion—and that's exactly what Dr. Madar Abed brings to every patient he cares for.

Board certified in Cardiology since 2003, Dr. Abed went on to complete advanced fellowship training in Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, expanding his expertise in diagnosing and treating heart rhythm disorders. His specialized skills include AICD implants, cardiac ablations, and laser lead extractions. Dr. Abed has also dedicated his time , effort and expertise building a state of the art EP lab at Hurley Medical Center to service our community

Dr. Abed made history as the first physician in Genesee County to implant the S-ICD (Subcutaneous Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillator), bringing leading-edge heart care to our community. He is also actively involved in ongoing research studies to help ensure patients have access to the latest technology and advancements in cardiac care.

Known for his warm personality and great sense of humor, Dr. Abed believes that caring for patients means treating the whole person—not just the heart.

Our tiniest patients are dressed in their festive red, white, and blue, bringing an extra dose of joy to Hurley Children's Hospital this Fourth of July. 🇺🇸✨

Though they may be small, these little miracles are incredibly strong, filling our hearts with hope every day. Their tiny fingers, peaceful snuggles, and precious faces remind us that some of life's greatest blessings come in the smallest packages.

These adorable moments have everyone at Hurley Children's Hospital smiling, and we're so grateful to celebrate with our amazing NICU families.
