🌟 Harriet Tubman: In certain educational settings is included in the curriculum, but often the harrowing experiences of enslavement that she and others endured are downplayed or simplified. This leads to confusion among many students, who sometimes mistakenly believe that Tubman was a literal train conductor on the Underground Railroad. Frequently confused with Sojourner Truth., Harriet Tubman was a fearless spy, soldier, and nurse during the Civil War. Born into slavery, she defied the odds, helping hundreds find freedom called the Underground Railroad — the resistance to enslavement through escape and flight, through the end of the Civil War— enslaved African Americans gained their freedom by escaping bo***ge - "freedom seekers ." The escape routes comprised a combination of natural and man-made means of transportation, including rivers, canals, bays, the Atlantic Coast, ferries, river crossings, roads, and trails. 🚂🔒
