📜 Insurance basically started in a coffee shop.
In the late 1600s, merchants met at Lloyd’s Coffee House in London to insure ships and cargo. That coffee shop eventually became the global insurance marketplace we know today as Lloyd’s of London.

🔥 The Great Fire of London (1666) changed everything.

After the city burned for four days and destroyed over 13,000 homes, the first real property insurance companies were created.

🧑‍🚒 Benjamin Franklin started a fire insurance company.

In 1752 he helped launch the Philadelphia Contributionship, and houses with too many fire hazards were actually denied coverage.
