Hello friends, I'm Mercedes. I'm an experienced psychic intuitive. Growing up, I knew I was different-I could see and feel more than everyone around me. My mom always tells the story of how I predicted a friend of hers becoming pregnant with twins when I was only 5 years old. Running a business is hard. Running a business as a gay female comes with its own struggles as well. You are a minority of a minority right off the bat before any other demographics are considered.

When Nikki and I launched Within Spirit, we wanted to build something that reflected our values: authenticity, community, and showing up fully as ourselves every single day. We never set out to be spokespeople for the gay community. We never set out to march in a pride parade or run pride events. We set out to live our lives and face the challenges we all face as women, as a couple, as business owners, and most of all, as humans.

Pride isn't about parades, drag shows or rainbows, as much fun as that all is. It's about celebrating and appreciating the struggles of those before you-those who dared to hold hands in public, sign a lease together, protest, marry, and fought for the equal rights that we ALL deserve, regardless of color, creed, ethnicity, sexuality or whatever other identifying demographic you want to throw out there. It's about the fight to just live your life in 2026 because people in this world are more worried about what others do in their bedroom than what is going on in the big picture of the world.

No one would chose the struggles many members of our community face. It is a born with identity, much like handedness. You can try to deny it, same as you can try to write with your other hand, but eventually, it's just easier to be who you are, regardless of what others think.

Within Spirit will always be a safe space for all. This month, we ask you not to celebrate us. We ask you to celebrate yourself, your family, friends, neighbors and those around you by taking a minute to understand their authenticity, whatever their story is.
