This special community dialogue will focus on the landmark Louisiana v. Callais decision, in which the U.S. Supreme Court struck down Louisiana's second majority-Black congressional district and held that race-conscious redistricting under Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act of 1965 is unconstitutional. The 6-3 ruling does more than reshape one's state map. It marks a fundamental shift in the constitutional understanding of equality, voting rights, and Congress's power to enforce the Reconstruction Amendments.
