I was looking in an old journal and found an exercise I had done in 2018:

-20 reasons why my work is worth $3,000-

The reasons all started with “I.”

I invested in all this equipment.
I go above and beyond.
I edit the pictures really beautifully.
I spend half a day with them.
… etc.

I did all these extra things to make my clients feel like they were getting value.

And while they were cute, they actually distracted everyone from the real value of my photo shoots:

- my clients felt SEEN and alive in their pictures

- moms watched their daughters soften into their own skin in just one day, deciding to pursue modeling (seriously, this happened so many times)

- my clients looked AMAZING no matter where we were, or how “natural” they were in front of the camera.

- they got the most beautiful, simply designed products in a way that felt easy and not confusing.

- the process was so seamless, the planning and prep was all but done for them, so busy clients could just show up and know they’d get insane results.

So instead of saying “I’m worth my price because it equals out to about $20/hr….”

Remember why your experience is so magical for your clients.

Remember that you can’t put a price on helping someone to feel beautiful for the FIRST TIME EVER.

I made the most money when I simplified, not did more.

I did less, but more excellent-ly.

I OWNED the true power of what I was doing.

People aren’t paying you cause you don’t sleep and would break your back for them.

They’re paying you for what THEY get.

Sell yourself on that.

During the pandemic I started my life coaching business, which was my dream.

The more deeply you are willing to look inside yourself..

The more you can hold the space for someone else.

Holding the space is so unlike what I used to do when I was young and wanted to fix everyone.

It comes with very strong boundaries and upholding them with love for yourself.

You have to honor your own space first.

And then when you are open to sharing that space with others..

Others can feel safe. Seen. And magic can happen.
