Love this wisdom from mind body eating expert Stephanie Mara 💓🙏🏻🌟
Your binge eating, restricting, emotional eating, undereating, overeating, disordered eating behaviors are all happening for an exquisite, wise bodily reason.
Decreasing the frequency of these food coping mechanisms happening won’t be about the behavior itself diminishing and disappearing.
It would kind of be like if a baby was perpetually crying and you thought it was because they were too reliant on self soothing with their teddy bear. That teddy bear is a problem. We have to fix the reliance on this teddy bear. No!
What that baby is trying to do is find ways to navigate what’s showing up in their body and they need more support and more options on how to do that.
Your trauma based food behaviors never have been nor will they ever be the real issue. You can start to invite in curiosity about what they have and continue to support you with to begin to take on a more compassionate understanding lens of your food impulses.
