𝐅𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐓𝐓𝐄, 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢 – July 24, 2025 – The Jefferson County School District is proud to announce that 𝐌𝐫𝐬. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐥𝐞𝐲-𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 has been selected to serve as 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 for the 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫. A graduate of the Jefferson County High School Class of 2009 and a lifelong advocate for education and service, Mrs. Hunter brings a strong legacy, deep community roots, and a heart for students into her new role as a school leader.⁣⁣

Mrs. Hunter most recently served as the district’s 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐮𝐦𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫, having previously taught in 𝐂𝐫𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 before returning home in 2019. She holds a 𝐁𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐩𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 from 𝐀𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐧 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 and a 𝐌𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐬 from 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐒𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢.⁣⁣

Her appointment carries a deeply personal significance.⁣⁣

“𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘭𝘺 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘦 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘰𝘭𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘈𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘵 𝘗𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘤𝘪𝘱𝘢𝘭,” 𝘔𝘳𝘴. 𝘏𝘶𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦𝘥. “𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘯𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘯, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘵 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘤𝘦𝘳𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘎𝘰𝘥’𝘴.”⁣⁣
She recalls that this opportunity arose in the wake of the passing of 𝐃𝐫. 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐫, a beloved leader whose final text to Mrs. Hunter just days earlier appointed her as a senior sponsor.⁣⁣

A woman of faith, family, and service, Mrs. Hunter is actively involved in 𝐒𝐭. 𝐀𝐧𝐧𝐞’𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 in Fayette, and is an honorary member of 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭 𝐙𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐡 in Rodney. She is a proud member and former collegiate president of 𝐙𝐞𝐭𝐚 𝐏𝐡𝐢 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐚 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝, and she continues mentoring youth through the 𝐙𝐞𝐭𝐚 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐥𝐮𝐛 and 𝐅𝐂𝐂𝐋𝐀. Alongside her husband, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐇𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫, she is also co-owner of 𝐆𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐎𝐧! 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞 𝐀𝐫𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞, and together they are raising one beautiful daughter.⁣⁣

Mrs. Hunter is the granddaughter of 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐭 𝐋𝐞𝐞 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐬, 𝐒𝐫., the first African American elected to public office in Mississippi since Reconstruction and the first African American elected to the 𝐉𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧. The district’s 𝐚𝐝𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐫, and Mrs. Hunter continues his legacy through service and leadership.⁣⁣

As Assistant Principal, she will support 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐚 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫 in advancing a student-centered culture of high expectations, academic excellence, and meaningful relationships.⁣⁣

Mrs. Hunter concluded her remarks with a heartfelt promise:⁣⁣
