ACI Chapter Activities
07/15/2026
Gain technical knowledge and develop leadership skills while expanding your personal and professional networks by joining and participating in your local ACI chapter.🌟
Chapters are made up of architects, engineers, consultants, contractors, educators, material suppliers, equipment suppliers, owners, and students—in other words, anyone interested in concrete.
In addition, chapters also host ACI Concrete Conventions, sponsor ACI Certification, educational seminars, project award programs, and social events with the goal of advancing concrete knowledge and creating a local concrete community.

Join us for a presentation on “Mass concrete — How Big is Big?”
September 22, 2026
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM
Register: https://southfloridaaci.starchapter.com/meet-reg1.php?id=32
What is mass concrete? ACI 207.1R defines mass concrete as any volume of concrete with dimensions large enough to require that measures be taken to cope with the generation of heat from hydration of the cement and attendant volume change to minimize cracking. But how does one predict whether mass concrete problems will occur and what steps should be taken? This presentation will discuss how to identify mass concrete, ACI 301 requirements pertaining to it, and good construction practices.
Topics covered in this presentation will include:
Examples of mass concrete structures
Identifying mass concrete in the field
Specification requirements
Factors influencing mass concrete
Mitigation or design
