Happy 4th of July! Here’s a fun fact: The nation’s capital was envisioned as a “city of trees,” one of the first American cities to intentionally weave urban forestry into its original design. Many of the region’s oldest trees were planted deliberately as symbols of democracy and peace. Others simply stood long enough to become quiet witnesses to history.
