Take a chance. You are the only one that is holding you back. You will never know if it is your path, or what you are meant to do, or what you love to do - unless you try it.

Give yourself these new opportunities and chances to follow your dreams. Don’t talk yourself out of it by giving into fears and uncertainties. All you can do is take a chance and try.

As much as we want people to understand us, to understand where we are coming from, or see things from our perspective, the only thing we can control is our OWN perspective.

This means your own understandings and viewpoints of yourself are the only thing that matters. It is hard to not let other people’s thoughts or opinions effect us, but we have to remind ourselves that we cannot make everyone happy. We cannot make everyone understand.

There is an irreplaceable peace that comes in accepting this, and learning to accept other people, while also learning the only thing you can control is YOU.

Do it at your own pace.

Life moves so fast, and society tends to make us feel like we must compare where we are in our life with others we see around us. Doing so can make you feel overwhelmed with the amount of things you tell yourself you need to do or change to “catch up”.

We often forget though, that what we see in parts of other people’s lives, or on social media, is not the full truth. We must remember that life is not a race, and what matters is where we are in our own life and focusing on our wants, and needs. The only comparisons we should make is not from ourselves to others, but from ourselves to our own goals.

Who we ARE matters more.

This requires actively being, rather than just knowing. Calling us to show up and let ourselves be known and seen. We learn a great deal of things in life and it is not to take away the importance of knowing things, as this helps us grow and learn.

This is not the most important thing, though. It is more important to be who we are. To look into the core of ourselves and identify who we are, what we want to be, and remain true to ourselves. Let yourself be seen, heard, and accepted for who YOU ARE, for ALL YOU ARE.

Who you are MATTERS.

A prayer for acceptance, change, wisdom, and self reflection. This prayer is important to those in recovery, but it is also important for everyone. It is asking for peace from God through knowing we do not control all things, but we can work on our own self. Ask God for this strength and courage to guide you.

“God grant me the Serenity
To accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can,
And the Wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time.
Accepting hardship as a pathway to peace,
Taking, as he did, this sinful world as it is,
Not as I would like it.
Trusting that he will make all things right,
If I surrender to his will.
That I may be reasonably happy in this world
And supremely happy in the next.”

Patience: By allowing yourself grace and mercy, and not putting strict timelines on yourself whether that is healing, goals or anything else we face. Be patient with yourself!

Kindness: Speaking love into yourself, thinking kind thoughts about yourself, and learning to love yourself. Be kind to yourself!

Motivation: Remind yourself success can look different on different days, but the effort of just getting up, and of trying our best is all we need. You can do whatever you set your mind to! Motivate yourself!

Grace: If we can give others grace, patience, and mercy, then why can’t we give this to ourselves? Grace is free and is essential in taking care of ourselves. Give yourself grace!

Cheerleading: Life can feel difficult, and there are many seasons or trials we can go through. Remind yourself how great you are doing. It might not feel like it sometimes but you are here, and you are trying. Cheer yourself on!

Our Best: It is all we can do: try. Nobody is perfect, and we don’t have to be. All we need to do is get up, and try to give each day and moment our best efforts. Do your best!
