Students in our TV3 full year course have become known for their creativity in the production of a sitcom, “The Life of Larry Lakestar”. Literacy Event For Prekindergarten and Kindergarten Families

Pre K and Kindergarten Multilingual Learner Families at Silvia Elementary were recently invited to a reading workshop to promote and celebrate multilingualism and literacy in languages.

Topics that were covered included: translanguaging, text- based questions. Participants left with key takeaways such as: using your home language to support both reading and identity, turning every day activities into lessons to strengthen vocabulary, and using both languages to build confidence. Families were gifted a grade level appropriate book in both English and their home language and a list of questions, in their home languages, that they could use over the summer as they read with their child.
