Punditji has begun pujas for Saran Navaratri Celebration October 17 - October 25 (Temple still closed to the public).
Navaratri represents the battle that occurred between good (positivity) and evil (negativity) as depicted by the Goddess Chaamundeshwari and the asura (demon), Mahishaasura. The battle lasted 9 days and nights. Finally, on the tenth day, Goddess Chaamundeshwari was victorious, thus this day is known as Vijayadashami, which means the tenth day of victory.

We are so blessed to have Durga "installed" at Sri Devi Mandir today. Pundit Sarathi began with a special puja in the temple. Then with red string, he connected Her to the homa structure in the homa room. Everyone is invited to come see Durga! She is so beautiful and her Shakti is so alive!
Goddess Durga, the Supreme Goddess, is the embodiment of Pure Love, Courage, and Divine Light “Jyoti” (Shakti/Energy, Bhakti/Devotion and Mukti/Liberation). She is referred to as the Universal Mother and symbolizes the Divine forces (Positive Energy) known as Divine Shakti (feminine and creative energy) that is used against the negative forces of evil and wickedness.
Goddess Durga represents the power of the Supreme Being that preserves moral order and righteousness in the creation. She protects mankind from evil and misery by destroying evil forces (negative energy and vices – Arrogance, jealousy, prejudice, hatred, anger, greed and selfishness).
Goddess Durga is depicted as a warrior woman with eight hands carrying weapons of different kinds (used in different situations), assuming mudras, or symbolic hand gestures that represent her teachings.

All are invited! Ganesh Chaturthi Celebration, Sri Devi Mandir
Monday, September 2 to Tuesday, Sep. 10
Ganesh Chaturthi is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesh on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the bright fortnight of the month Bhadrapada in the Hindu calendar.
Ganesh is depicted with an elephant's head on a human body. In the Hindu tradition, he is the son of Lord Siva and the Goddess Parvati. He is worshipped first
in any prayers, and before any auspicious work is begun. He is known as the Remover of Obstacles and the god of wisdom & prosperity. He is prayed to particularly when people are beginning a new enterprise or starting a new business. Many believe that for the fulfillment of one's desires, his blessing is absolutely necessary.

Blessings to everyone from Sri Devi Mandir. Today's Special 2 hour Rudra Abhishekam was so powerful. I (Brianna) arrived with a very active mind and the puja dropped me into this "solid" silence. We are very blessed to have someone at Pundit Sarathi's level of expertise here in Fairfield.
There will be a special Ganapati puja on Wed. June 19th, 10:00 am. All are welcome! Punditji will be leaving for India on June 22 with his family for India for the summer. He will continue to perform pujas and homas for us there. If you have questions, please email or call temple. We do not check private FB messages often.
