Happy Father’s Day to our dads and fathers throughout Fairfax County. Thank you for the support you provide every day to your families and your community.
Fairfax County continues to be under a drought warning. As we near the 4th of July, these dry conditions mean an increased risk of fires caused by fireworks.
While it is best to leave the fireworks to the professionals, if you do use fireworks at home following a few basic precautions can prevent your holiday from going up in flames.
On the first Saturday in June, families and fire service members from across Virginia gathered at the Virginia Fallen Firefighter and EMS Memorial Service to pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty over the past year. The event honors the bravery and sacrifice of Virginia’s fallen firefighters and EMS personnel.
This year Captain Barry Maham was among those honored. Captain Maham passed away from occupational cancer in March 2025.
