Where Morning Begins
There are few places that reveal the Palouse quite like the top of Steptoe Butte at sunrise.
As the first light crept across the rolling hills, the landscape slowly awakened. Long shadows stretched across the fields, revealing every curve, every fold, every texture that makes this place unlike anywhere else. The familiar patchwork of wheat and canola fields became a canvas painted with light rather than color.
Moments like this remind me that photography is often less about finding something extraordinary and more about being present long enough to see the ordinary transformed. Sunrise doesn’t change the land—it changes the way we see it.
The Palouse has a way of rewarding patience.

They stood alone, yet never seemed lonely.
In the vast sweep of the Palouse, where golden wheat rolls like waves across the hills, these two trees have found their place. They have witnessed countless sunrises, summer winds, autumn harvests, and winters that tested their resolve.
They don’t compete with the landscape—they belong to it.
As I stood behind my camera, I couldn’t help but think about the people in our own lives who quietly stand beside us through every season. Steady. Unwavering. Present. Sometimes the strongest stories are told without a single word.
Photography has taught me that beauty isn’t always found in grand vistas. Sometimes it’s found in two trees, standing together, reminding us that there is grace in resilience, strength in companionship, and peace in simply being rooted where we are.
The Palouse never stops telling stories. I’m grateful to listen.

Not every path asks to be followed.
Some simply ask us to pause.
This overgrown trail disappears into a sea of brilliant yellow canola, inviting curiosity while keeping its destination a mystery. Perhaps that’s the beauty of it. We don’t always need to know where a path leads to appreciate where it begins.
Life is filled with well-worn roads and forgotten ones—some chosen, some left behind, and some quietly reclaimed by time. Every path holds the promise of possibility, reminding us that the journey often begins with a single step of faith.
Today, I found myself wondering… What paths have I overlooked simply because they weren’t the easiest to travel?
Sometimes the most meaningful journeys begin where certainty ends.

Some stories aren’t abandoned—they’re simply reclaimed.
At the edge of a sea of golden canola, an old green truck rests quietly as wildflowers and weeds weave themselves around its weathered frame. What was once built for work now serves a different purpose: reminding us that time doesn’t always erase…sometimes it gently transforms.
Nature has a way of softening what we leave behind, creating beauty where others might only see neglect. The truck no longer carries a harvest, but it still carries a story.
Sometimes the most beautiful endings aren’t endings at all—they’re simply another season.
