For years, Simone didn't feel safe.
While experiencing homelessness and navigating an abusive relationship, stability felt out of reach. But with support, safe housing, and trusted adults to walk alongside her, Simone was able to begin rebuilding their life.
Today, Simone has secured permanent housing and is building a future grounded in safety.
Her story is a reminder that when young people have access to shelter, support, and someone who believes in them, change is possible.
As we approach the end of our fiscal year on June 30, we're sharing stories of young people whose lives have been changed through Cocoon House—and the work that still lies ahead.

Did you know? LGBTQ+ youth are more than twice as likely to experience homelessness compared to their peers.
Many young people facing homelessness report family rejection, discrimination, or unsafe home environments as major reasons they lost stable housing.
At Cocoon House, we believe every young person deserves a safe place to sleep, supportive adults, and the freedom to be fully themselves.
This Pride Month, help us raise awareness about the realities LGBTQ+ youth face in our community and the importance of affirming, accessible support systems.
