Santa Clara, save the date!

On Saturday, July 18, the Santa Clara Community Park will have a grand opening. The Santa Clara Community Foundation will have a table at the celebration about the old schoolhouse, and our work to renovate it. Since the park will be on display for the community, we want to share information about the schoolhouse too.

Stay tuned for more information!

The Hileman Heroes are at it again tomorrow! Why do they work so hard? These pictures are but a few of the reasons…

Work Party: Saturday, May 30, 2026, 9:30 am – 2:00 pm
Join us for an hour or two, or as long as you’d like, and take some time to explore the park before you leave.

Volunteers who accumulate 10 hours of volunteer time will receive a free annual Lane County Parking Pass, a $40 value good at ANY of the 50-plus parks in Lane County!

We’ll be clearing around the natives we’ve planted on the entry-area berm and pond edges, assessing plant success rate, watering and mulching. If the “oak meadow” hasn’t been mowed yet we’ll clear around the tree cages, check for weeds inside the cages, water, and add mulch as needed.

Come together for some meaningful work and a sense of community accomplishment. This is a great opportunity to meet neighbors, enjoy the outdoors, and contribute to the cleanliness and health of our environment in a nearby riparian-forest ecosystem.

Since Memorial Day is right around the corner, school will be out for summer soon!
Do you suppose kids felt the same way about the last day of school over a century ago?
It’s fun to wander around at the Santa Clara Community park and ponder the past. This has been part of Santa Clara Oregon since 1901. Help us restore it for future generations!

Remember the bumper sticker that says “Think Globally, Act Locally?” That’s what the Hileman Heroes do!

Saturday, April 25th is the next work party.
Please join us from 9:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.
Work for an hour or two, or as long as you can!

This Saturday we’re working on removing yellow flag iris in the flood channel and young thistles before they can sprout on the gravel bar.

It’s a good excuse to be outside, meet neighbors, and contribute to the health of the Willamette River riparian zone.
Come on out!
