I can’t get enough of them!
Massive shoulders, a thick hump of muscle, and a shaggy coat aren’t just for appearance. A bull bison uses these adaptations to push through deep snow in winter, compete with other bulls during the breeding season, and thrive in some of North America’s harshest environments.

Colorado has been feeling the heat. This little one found a patch of shade to escape the sun, but the relentless bugs were another story.

I haven’t seen this old bull make his yearly appearance this year. He was one of the oldest bulls I had the chance to photograph, and the last time I saw him, he was looking rough. It makes me wonder if nature has finally taken its course.
