Expecting with Emmy

Having someone be with you while you give birth is a big decision that I know is not made lightly. As your birth doula, I become your teammate in one of the most important, intimate, and vulnerable experiences of your life. I understand how crucial it is for us to vibe together. The more aligned we are, the better I can support you through any challenges and the safer you will feel. Book a free, confidential 20-minute video call with me and we can talk about how I can best support you and your partner (if applicable!) to help you have a positive birth experience.
Check out the available appointment times at the link in my bio! I look forward to meeting you đ

It can be really overwhelming to digest information related to pregnancy and parenting and decipher what is fact, fiction, or seriously biased. As a doula, mom, and public health professional, these are three parenting books I highly recommend.
I read these books during my pregnancy and will definitely revisit each of them when my daughter is a little older.
The three booksâBringing Up BĂ©bĂ©, Montessori Baby, and The Danish Way of Parentingâshare a common emphasis on fostering independence, emotional well-being, and respect for childrenâs development.
All three advocate for raising children with a focus on independence. Montessori Baby encourages autonomy through child-led learning and exploration, Bringing Up BĂ©bĂ© promotes self-sufficiency and patience (le pause đ„), and The Danish Way highlights the importance of teaching resilience and independence in a supportive family environment.
These recommendations emphasize the importance of emotional regulation and well-being in both children and adults.
I think these books promote a parenting style that respects the child as an individual.
Together, I believe they will provide insight towards having a well-rounded, confident, well-adjusted child.
Have you read any of these? What did you think?

In the current US medical system, demands on providers can mean limited time and attention for patients during both pregnancy and labor. Numerous women have told me they never met the doctor who delivered their baby until moments before they pushed the baby out. This is where a doula becomes essential. Long before your birth, we begin our relationship. I will talk through all of your choices with you, debrief your OB appointments, translate the doctor's information, and inform you of all of your birthing options. We are experts in the options! During the birth, I provide continuous, personalized support, from easing physical discomfort to advocating for your birth plan. I will ensure you feel informed, empowered, and cared for every step of the way, filling in the gaps left by rushed appointments.
