I hadn't posted what had taken up the majority of our summer. We had begun building a carriage house in our backyard in 2016, but then didn't have the funds to finish. The city inspector joked with us that our permit was the longest open permit in the town. We were able to finish it at the end of this summer after a lot of hard work! My husband and son spent most of their evenings and weekends doing all the final finishing. I added the painting and mural work.I went with a Mexican style palette. We were planning it as an airbnb, but felt the Lord want us to do otherwise. We opened it up to amazing friends of our kids who were just married. We've had a dozen people live in our home over the course of our marriage, and it's sweet to have neighbors in our backyard. We want to open up our home again, but are enjoying a little break after all the summer work.

I had the privilege of creating another bison painting for a long time friend. He attended CU Boulder with my husband 30+ years ago, and this hangs in his office. His wife and children shared words to describe their husband and dad, and I incorporated them in his tweed jacket, along with tools from his father and grandfather. He is a builder of homes, family, community and hearts for the Lord.

Something is still a miss, but I'm putting the brushes down. I'm calling the transparency, shifted primaries of Magenta for red, Green Gold for yellow, and Ivory Black for my blue mostly done. After a suggestion, I added a patch of my initial color for study in the class, Phthalo blue. It's definitely more fitting for a Cuban vibe. I'm teaching this afternoon, and need to pack up. My middle school class will be learning ice dyeing with Procion dyes. Last week, it was Japanese Shibori. On to the next homework for amazing class!
