Using the strong winds of the Aegean, canvas sails were attached to the arms of this windmill to turn the grist mill. Today, it looks great on postcards and I was drawn to paint it.

Blue water, white buildings, blue domes. That sums up Santorini.

The blue domes of these churches have become an icon of the Cyclades, the cluster of Greek islands scattered across the Aegean. The name “Cyclades” comes from the Greek word kyklos (circle) because the way the islands form a ring around the sacred island of Delos, the mythological birthplace of Apollo and Artemis.

After a full day of travel we made it to Athens. To fight off the jet lag and reset my circadian clock I took a walk to Monastiraki Square, soaked in some energy of the city and painted this before dinner.
