There were many years where I was unsure if I truly wanted to be a mother. The decision felt too daunting, like stepping into the greatest unknown of a lifetime. I wondered how I would make my career work while taking care of a tiny human. How would it affect my relationships? My identity?

I wasn’t even sure if I would be a good mom. How could I mother without my own mother here to guide me?

But with each passing day her sweet soul reminds me through the joyful smiles, through the quiet moments of breastfeeding late into the night, and even through the epic meltdowns that I was always meant to be a mom. I was always meant to be her mom. That I now know to be true.

Every day still feels like stepping into the greatest unknown of a lifetime, but I have certainty that I’m up for whatever the journey brings. All of its beautiful moments and all of its tiny little heartbreaks.

Motherhood feels like the ultimate lesson in the preciousness of life. The highs and the lows, the full spectrum of human emotions.
