What a year. I don’t know, that when reflecting on a past year, that I’ve ever learned so much. Frustrating, overwhelming, confusing ... sometimes. But also:
🔹appreciating the wonderful, strong, inspiring people in my life more than ever before.
🔹taking portions of my life less seriously & learning to go with the flow.
🔹learning that sometimes less is more. Less planning, less hustle, less hectic schedules will be my new normal.
🔹more meaningful involvement in causes important to me & my community.
🔹getting quiet is sometimes the best thing to “do.”
Thank you #2020, but I sure am ready for 2021 🎉
And yes, that is marshmallow on my nose 🙃

I needed this today!! Loving this recipe from . It’s easy to always do the same thing, so I was excited to pull this together for my afternoon/post workout snack. Smoothies are incredibly simple & you don’t need to follow the recipe exactly. Here are a couple examples of substitutions I made:
- cashew milk instead of coconut, because I had it in the fridge & don’t want it to go to waste!
- Used a fresh banana instead of frozen & just added extra ice to thicken it up.
- Added 1 tbsp flaxseed & 1 tbsp almond butter for some extra protein & fiber.
- Didn’t use the maple syrup bc I found it was already sweet enough for me!
It was DELICIOUS and definitely hit the spot!! It also satisfied my sweet tooth so I might not need my daily 3pm dark chocolate fix 🍫 ♥️

If I had to sum up our experience so far, it would be brutiful. Thank you for creating the most accurate word I can think of to describe this moment.
The Beautiful:
Slowing down our pace of life. I didn’t realize how rushed, scheduled, and overwhelming our life had become.
Transitioning to a life full of walks outside, art projects, family conversations, and creativity has been a beautiful opportunity.
Grateful I share a home with my 3 favorite humans. I cannot imagine how much different this experience would be if I were still single & living alone.
The dedication of my sister to continue to show up and serve her patients while knowingly being exposed to COVID 19. Every day.
Thankful for the sunshine, so we can take lots of sanity breaks in our own yard.
The Brutal:
So many people in my life are in healthcare. My sister. My husband. My dad. Hearing their realities & experiences from urban but not surging areas (yet) in this country is sobering. This is why we are taking the shelter-in-place order very seriously. Because when you know better, you do better.
Close friends’ industries & careers disappearing or significantly impacted with uncertainty of what will come next.
The news. Concern for others health (both mentally & physically). At-risk populations access to shelter & food. The pressure on our healthcare system and concern for everyone who works within it’s wellbeing.
Managing homeschooling, cooking, cleaning, refereeing, creating peace & certainty wherever we can, while trying to find space for myself.
I want to cry (and often do) every day.
I move between overwhelm, awe, sadness, joy, and gratitude multiple times an hour. Processing everything. And coming to terms with the massive changes while working to establish our new normal. I know how good we have it, and I'm incredibly thankful.
It’s brutiful.
