Today's Throwback Thursday is a recently acquired photograph of the original Fire Station #2 on the south side of town, seen here in May 1951. Built in 1940 at Division and E. Vallette Streets, just east of York Street, it served the south Elmhurst area for 40 years before being demolished in 1980. A new station to the south of the Illinois Central railroad tracks, at York Commons Park, opened that same year. There is no longer a Division Street today, but this building would have been behind the Knights of Columbus building on S. York Street.
