The Ticonic, built in 1862 for Howard Engine Company of Charlestown Mass, made its way to Ellsworth in 1866. It was housed in Ellsworth Falls in the Ticonic 4 Engine House that was sadly demolished in 2019.

The Ticonic pumps almost as good as she did the day she came to Ellsworth.

There wasn’t a closer EFD family member than Bob Dorr Sr. You’d see him at Shaws, as he worked, wearing an Ellsworth Fire Department hat. He also always had a memorial pin honoring his son, our own Deputy Chief Bobby Dorr.

Bob stayed busy volunteering for Little League and countless fundraisers, like our Christmas is for Kids shopping trip and the Bobby Dorr Memorial Scholarship fund.

Bob went on to be with his wife, and son Bobby, this morning. He has earned a break and a reunion.

Bob, we will never forget. We will take it from here. We love you. Rest easy.
