Today we honor Martin Luther King Jr. for his work in building and promoting civil rights. We are reminded of his legacy in working to abolish a culture of division by appealing to American’s highest aspirations in stark contrast to the all-too-frequent barbarity of those who sought to maintain injustice.

He promoted civil dialogue and the transformation of culture to protect and nourish every community and individual. We remember Dr. King for the noble goals he pursued and by in large achieved– and for a vision the nation still strives to fully realize today.
