Fireworks, cookouts, family gatherings... the Fourth of July can be a lot of fun for people, but it can also be one of the most dangerous times of the year for pets.

Every year, shelters see an increase in lost pets after fireworks scare them or they slip out during holiday parties.

Before the festivities begin, make sure your pet:
🐾 Has a properly fitting collar
🐾 Has current ID tags (or write your phone number on the collar with a Sharpie!)
🐾 Is microchipped and your contact information is up to date
🐾 Has a safe, secure place to stay during fireworks and parties
🐾 Stays away from dangerous holiday foods
