Last week, Wilton Rancheria leadership had the honor of welcoming the Winnemem Wintu leaders and Tribal Citizens as they continued their annual Run4Salmon journey.

For the Winnemem Wintu, salmon carry life and nourishment to our rivers, forests, and communities. The Run4Salmon is a prayer journey that raises awareness about the urgent need to restore salmon to their ancestral waters, protect our waterways, and preserve Indigenous lifeways for future generations.

Wilton Rancheria recognizes the importance of standing alongside our Tribal neighbors in protecting the lands, waters, and cultural traditions that sustain us all. We are grateful to have welcomed the paddlers and to support their mission.

Safe travels to everyone continuing this sacred journey.

This week, members of Tribal Council and Vice Chair were at the State Capitol advocating for legislation that impacts Tribal communities and ensuring Wilton Rancheria’s voice is heard in the policymaking process.

As the Capital Tribe, with our home here in Sacramento, we recognize both the opportunity and the responsibility that comes with being at the center of California’s government. We have an obligation to speak up on issues that affect our people, our neighbors, and future generations, and to be strong, collaborative partners in shaping solutions.
