Let's talk about something a lot of people are quietly googling but not sure how to ask about: The melasma moustache. That shadow of pigmentation across the upper lip. It’s one of the most common and most misunderstood skin concerns we see.
It's not dirt, it's not a tan line, and no amount of exfoliating is going to scrub it away. It's melasma, and it's happening deep in the skin. Melasma is a form of hyperpigmentation driven by melanocyte overactivity, meaning the pigment-producing cells in your skin get triggered into overdrive and deposit excess melanin in concentrated areas. The upper lip is especially vulnerable because it's constantly exposed to UV, heat, and hormonal fluctuations, all of which are known triggers.
That's why it's so common during pregnancy, while on hormonal birth control, or during perimenopause. It's often called the "mask of pregnancy" for a reason but you don't have to be pregnant to get it. The frustrating part? It can come back even after successful treatment if the triggers aren't managed. This is why a proper skin consultation matters so much. Melasma needs a strategy, not just a product. Save this if you have been struggling with upper lip pigmentation and wondering where to start.

The funniest part about consistent waxing?
Most of my clients start for the smooth skin… but stay because life feels easier. 😂
No more realizing you forgot to shave right before plans.
No more packing razors for every trip.
No more thinking about stubble every single day.
Once your appointments become part of your routine, everything starts feeling lower maintenance and way less stressful overall.
If you’ve been wanting smoother skin and less daily upkeep going into summer, this is your sign to get back onto a regular waxing schedule.
