June 6, 2026. Union County Youth Development Mentoring Program session focused on our Moral Compass Workshop, with the guiding question: “How do I choose what’s right when it’s not easy?”
Our mentees shared thoughtful responses, with many expressing that “it depends on the situation” while others emphasized the importance of “doing the right thing.” These responses opened the door to meaningful conversations about decision-making, personal values, and accountability.
To make the lesson interactive, we conducted an activity using real-life scenarios. Mentees moved to different areas of the room based on whether they agreed, disagreed, or were unsure about a particular situation. One scenario involved taking an item from a store without paying for it. Participants then explained the reasoning behind their choices, leading to a productive discussion about honesty, consequences, responsibility, and the impact our decisions can have on ourselves and others.
We are proud of the maturity and honesty our young people displayed throughout the workshop. These conversations help build critical thinking skills and encourage positive decision-making both now and in the future.
To close out the day, we celebrated one of our mentees, Isabella, whose birthday is on Monday. A special thank you to her father for stopping by with an ice cream cake as we wished Isabella a very happy birthday surrounded by her R.E.A.D.Y. family.

May 30, 2026.
Today was more than an event. It was a reminder of what happens when families, youth, mentors, and community come together with purpose.

Our CIC Level Up Family Symposium was filled with powerful conversations, learning, laughter, growth, and connection. From educational discussions and family engagement to fun activities, great food, music, games, and meaningful moments, the room was full of positive energy all day long.

A special thank you to our licensed family therapist, Ms. St. Louis, for leading impactful conversations that encouraged healing, communication, and stronger family connections.

Thank you as well to Curtis Durham for pouring into our youth and families with meaningful discussion surrounding the educational sector, leadership, growth, and future opportunities. Representation, wisdom, and guidance matter.

We are incredibly grateful to every family, youth, speaker, volunteer, mentor, staff member, and supporter who helped make today successful. Seeing our families smile, engage, and grow together is exactly why we do this work.

At CIC, we are committed to making communities better one person at a time.
The future is loading… and our families are LEVELING UP! 💙
