Just finished this 1977-79 Ford Thunderbird & Ranchero and Mercury Cougar clock for a restoration shop in Modesto, IL.

Repairing your Model D8 Kit Cat Klock clock...

Part 1: Remove the three large Phillips screws holding the Dial/Motor Plate to the body/case. I leave the motor attached, because it's too easy to misplace the little screws that fasten it down. The single screw on the right side is slightly shorter than the two screws on the left. It is VERY important that the shorter screw be put back in the same mounting hole. If one of the larger screws is put in there it WILL poke a hole near the "9" causing a cosmetic blemish. I hate to tell you how many Official Kit Cat Klock Fan Club clocks I have gotten in for repair that I've seen with this problem. I have yet to find a way to repair this, so it look original.

If you forget to do this you can determine which screw is the short one by lining them up as in the photo. In this particular case the short screw is a different color, but that is NOT the usual case.

The clock I'm current working on (and using for this tutorial) has been put together with a long screw where the short screw should go before we received it for repair. Notice the hole poked in the clock near the left of the "9". :(
