Cloverfield Farm

We planted a Frederick Passionfruit vine earlier this year. It is growing on the front fence of our hillside orchard. We are seeing a few flowers now and we hope to get some ripe passion fruits later in the fall. The flowers are ornate and hypnotizing. The fruits have a dark purple skin and delicious pulp when ripe. The Frederick passion fruit should not be picked; it must fall from the vine naturally to develop full flavor and ripeness. If it is allowed to wrinkle a bit after collecting, it becomes sweet ambrosia.
