Amazing History. This should have been made into movie, don't you think. Listen in this Saturday.

1-22-22 10am to noon MT on KTSM AM 690 and streaming on Facebook on El Paso History Radio Show and on Remember in El Paso When, and on YouTube
San Elizario Salt War of 1877
A riot, mob rule, looting and the only time Texas Rangers ever surrendered. All that happened in the little town of San Elizario in 1877, as warring factions battled to take control of the valuable salt deposits near Guadalupe Peak, about 100 miles east of El Paso.
The San Elizario Salt War of 1877 also resulted in the reopening of Fort Bliss in El Paso.
On the Jan. 22 broadcast of “The El Paso History Radio Show,” hosted by Jackson Polk and Melissa Sargent, we talk with historian John Hamilton about how the demand for salt pitted power brokers, Texas lawmen and mobs against each other, and how it finally ended.
The only radio program about El Paso history airs from 10 a.m. till noon Saturday on News Talk 690 KTSM and streams at Facebook.com/ElPasoHistoryRadioShow.
