It's look like a great weekend to get outside!
Saturday, June 8th is National Get Outdoors Day, while Saturday and Sunday are Free Fishing Weekend (fish species limited).

Discovery passes are not needed in most State parks this weekend for day trips, making it a wonderful time to do some late Spring exploring.

Thank you to Lynnwood Councilmember George Hurst for helping our Webelos with their Building a Better World badge! They were to meet with a government or community leader to learn about their role in the community and discuss an important issue facing the community.

Councilmember Hurst gave us a tour of the Lynnwood City Council Chambers, told us what a councilmember does and answered questions. We talked about the light rail, water and sewer, swim lessons for kids, construction projects, and more.

The Scouts even got to have a mock city council meeting and sit on the dais to discuss the important issue of adding more ice cream shops to Lynnwood. The vote was 2-1 in favor of more ice cream shops. One suggested benefit was that more ice cream shops would bring in more revenue for local dentists.

Councilmember Hurst also walked us over to Veterans Park to show us the new Gold Star Families Memorial Monument.

Thank you again Councilmember Hurst! The Scouts learned a lot and had a great time.

We visited the the Willow Creek Salmon & Watershed Education Center (Sound Salmon Solutions) to learn about salmon and stream habitats, last week! The Scouts got to look at macroinvertebrates, learned about the salmon lifecycle, different types of salmon, and got to release baby salmon (Fry) into the wild.
