Our very own, Sarah Johnson, will be bringing back one of her specialties, a Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills group for teens ages 14-18.
DBT teaches a series of specific skill sets which equip us to navigate emotions, stress, and relationships better than we have in the past. By learning mindfulness techniques, emotion regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and distress tolerance, we can identify emotions so that we can work to manage them. The DBT group will consist of an education component as well as discussion and rehearsal of how to implement skills in real life situations.
The group will meet on Tuesday nights virtually, 4:30-5:30 p.m. for 16 weeks starting on March 7th. The cost is $60/week.

The City of Edmond has launched a program to help survivors of domestic violence escape abusive situations and find a safe haven to begin the healing process.
The Domestic Violence Waiver Policy is a way to alleviate the financial barriers survivors often face by waiving the deposit typically required to start, restore or transfer utility services.
Working in conjunction with the YWCA and Palomar, the Oklahoma City Family Justice Center, City of Edmond staff has developed a form that survivors can provide to Utility Customer Service in lieu of their deposit. The form allows three options to verify that the applicant is a survivor of domestic violence but does not require any details or personal information relating to any abuse they have experienced.
